What are the grounds like?

The Franciscan Renewal Center is located on 25 acres of beautiful desert between two Arizona landmarks: Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain. The grounds include a Meditation Chapel, desert walks, a labyrinth, healing garden, Blessed Sacrament Chapel, pool with whirlpool, dining room, meeting rooms and 51 private rooms with private baths.

What are the rooms like?

All of our rooms have private baths and 1 or 2 double beds. They are clean, simply furnished, air conditioned and heated. To minimize distractions, rooms have no phones, clocks or TVs. Wireless internet access is available in guest rooms and major public areas of the campus.

Do I need to bring my own linens or towels?

No, these will be provided for you.

Do you provide toiletries and hair dryers?

No, please bring your own toiletries and hair dryers or curling irons if you need them. (The front desk keeps a few emergency amenities on hand should you forget an essential item.)

What kind of clothing should I bring?

Dress is casual. (If you are coming as part of a group, please discuss proper attire with your group organizer.)
Desert nights and mornings can get rather cold, so bring an extra layer that is easily removable.

Shorts, sandals and flip-flops are all appropriate.
Bring your bathing suit if you want to use the pool.

Are there any special items I should bring?

A favorite water bottle; hydration is very important in our desert climate. You may also want to bring an alarm clock.

Are pets allowed?

No.

Do you have heating/air conditioning in the rooms?

Yes.

Is there a TV, alarm clock, refrigerator, etc. in the rooms?

Guests have access to a communal refrigerator (including use for medications) located in our complimentary coffee & tea room. Individual rooms do not have televisions or radios/alarm clocks.

What are meals like?

Our food is simple, fresh and delicious. Though we don’t always offer vegetarian entrées, there are enough options to satisfy most vegetarians. All meals are served buffet style in our centrally located dining room. In the rare instance that the kitchen is closed during your stay with us, plated meals will still be made for you.

Do you have designated smoking areas?

Yes, we have smoking areas throughout the property. We only ask that you please keep your fellow guests in mind when you smoke.

Is there an ATM on the grounds?

No.

Are there vending machines on the grounds?

Yes, but only for beverages.

Do you provide internet access for guests?

The Casa provides complimentary wireless internet that covers all major spaces, including the lobby, dining room and guest rooms. Guest rooms do not have a wired connection, however.

Is there transportation from the airport to your location?

Transportation to and from the Casa is easily arranged by way of Super Shuttle. They offer a special rate of $16 per person (rates subject to change). Click here for a flyer with detailed instructions and contact information.

Is your front desk open 24 hours?

No. The front desk hours are Mon-Sat 7:30am-7:30pm and Sun 7:00-8:30pm. Should you need to check in late or have an emergency after hours, a night watchman will be on duty to escort or assist you.
